Some quotes to ponder regarding the plum blossom:
"The Plum Blossom
Isolated in a drift of frozen snow. the plum blossom stands awesome and proud. motionless, its branches frozen.
And so let us exhaust the cup to its remarkable nobleness."
.
"A branch of plum. A sliver of moon.
Two poems from two traditions, speaking the same quiet language."
In China, Wang Anshi wrote of plum blossoms braving the cold. In Japan, Bashō watched moonlight settle on dew. Neither knew the other's words—but both knew the weight of a winter night. It doesn't choose sides. It simply reminds us that beauty, like breath, belongs to no one nation.
